When the straight-and-narrow Detective Olivia St. Bernard discovers an illegal weapons ring within the Philadelphia Police Department, she's hell-bent on finding who's behind it. But this all comes to end when she's murdered. Liv wakes up in The In-Between with no memory of what happened. She is welcomed by her recently-deceased mentor, who explains the rules of this purgatory: anyone who interacts with the living risks entry into their Heaven. Liv knows, if she follows the rules, she will go to her Heaven and be reunited with her father, who was killed in Afghanistan more than 20 years ago. Determined to risk it all, she has to find out how she was murdered and why. But is interaction with the living worth losing everything she held onto so dearly?
